REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
(INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT)
19CSIC02 – Recruitment of Agronomist (Food Crops and Farmer Field School Specialist)
- The Government of Angola has received Financing from the African Development Bank towards the cost of the Cabinda Province Agriculture Value Chains Development Project and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for Agronomist (Food Crops and Farmer Field School Specialist) ;
- The assignment aims to contribute to the development of Food Crops (cassava, sweet potato, maize, groundnut, beans, and bananas) in Cabinda Province, through training and other capacity development activities targeted to agriculture communities in Cabinda and Government officials directly or indirectly responsible for the implementation of the CPAVCDP. The training will promote good agricultural practices in food production, marketing, conservation, and processing. The Farmer Field Schools methodology is recommended ;
- The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries now invites eligible (individual) consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (Curriculum Vitae, copies of certificates of academic and professional qualifications, reference to similar assignments and experience in similar conditions, etc.) ;
- The duration of this assignment is two (2) years, renewable subject to performance and the Consultant will be based in Cabinda. The assignment is expected to begin in July 2022 ;
- The Agronomist should possess the following qualifications :
Essential : Academic qualifications, knowledge and experience
- Minimum Academic/ Professional Qualifications
- BSc Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Science, or similar field.
Essential Qualifications and Experience Requirements :
- At least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following Food Crops: cassava, sweet potato, beans and bananas crops ;
- Work experience (at least 3 years) in the Food Crops sub-sector in Africa, specifically in Angola will be an advantage ;
- Work experience in training, including in applying the Farmer Field Schools methodology is a strong advantage ;
- Proficiency in Portuguese language is mandatory. Knowledge of English or local.
Language of Cabinda will be an advantage :
Desirable competencies/abilities :
- Ability to engage and communicate with farmers and farmers ‘groups is required ;
- Ability to engage with government and multilateral aid operations in the public sector, particularly donor funded operations will be considered an advantage ;
- Ability to engage with senior government officials is required ;
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Access, and MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s Procurement Framework dated 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org ;
