  1. The African Development Bank now invites Individual Consultants to express their interest for in the following Assignment : Senior Trade Finance Consultant, within Trade Finance Division ;
  2. The consultant will be part of the Trade Finance Team and will report to the Division Manager. Specifically, his/her functions and responsibilities are, but not limited to :
  • Generate new Trade Finance business leads and prompt deal origination across African continent (hence a deep understanding of the banking sectors in these countries is critical) ;
  • Ensure thorough credit analysis and due diligence on potential issuing banks and other counterparties. This includes preparation of project appraisal reports on each counterparty in under the authority of the Division Manager ;
  • Track program activities through the implementation of appropriate systems and preparation of relevant reports on the program for management ;
  • Facilitate the process of on-boarding of new FI clients and help the Bank consummate new trade finance relationships by providing a readily accessible interface between clients and internal stakeholders ;
  • Support TF technical assistance function through capacity building of local financial institutions (FIs) and related corporate clients in RMC’s to effectively mitigate operational risks associated with TF transactions ;
  • Provide research, analysis and requisite support towards the development of the Trade Finance capacity and development programme for SMEs in the emerging markets ;
  • In addition, the consultant will be required to work with a wider multi-disciplinary team in the internal review and processing of opportunities.
  1. The candidate should have at least a Master Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields with a minimum of seven (07) years of relevant experience relevant with a strong emphasis on trade finance within the financial sector including experience in the design and delivery of technical assistance programs. Prior experience working in financial sector in Francophone African with excellent written and verbal communications skills in French and/or English and with sound working knowledge of both. Fluency in both languages will be an added advantage. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply ;
  2. Interested Individual Consultants must provide information on their capacity and experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (Resume, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.) ;
  3. Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants”, for projects financed under the African Development Bank window, May 2008 edition, revised in July 2012 which is available on the Bank’s website at (http://www.afdb.org) The Bank is under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest ;
  4. The assignment will have a duration of twelve (12) months, with a possibility for extension subject to satisfactory performance. The position is located within the Trade Finance Division in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The commencement date is planned for the 10th of November 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter ;
