About Leo Lithium:

Leo Lithium is a pure play lithium company developing the world class Goulamina Lithium Project in Mali. The company will be West Africa’s first spodumene procedure when the project comes online in 2024. The Goulamina Lithium Project is located approximately 150km south of the country’s capital of Bamako,

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager Operations (GMO) will be the most senior in country operational management position. The role’s priority is leadership of the operations team from operations readiness to production, ensure the safe delivery of all operating activities (non-construction) on the site.

Other key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage Direct Shipping Ore (DSO) from site to delivery to port in Cote d’Ivoire.
  • Lead a capable management and operating team to commission, manage and operate the site post completion of construction.
  • Develop operating procedures and ensure operational readiness for the project in advance of commissioning in Quarter 2, 2024
  • In conjunction with finance team, develop site operating budget and implement financial controls to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Promote a strong commitment to and relationships with local communities.
  • Liaise with third parties (government departments and community groups) to ensure that the Company’s reputation and standing as a good corporate citizen is maintained and enhanced.
  • Identify potential programs for community development, both short term (pre-production / life of mine) and long-term post mine closure
  • Engage with engineering and construction teams to implement proactive management systems to mitigate impact of new site developments.
  • Ensure that training and development of local and national staff is prioritized, such that national capacity is developed for senior roles.

To be a successful candidate, you will have:

  • Proven Operations General Management experience within Mining and Flotation Processing, ideally with Lithium experience, however not essential.
  • Hold mining or metallurgical qualifications.
  • Exceptional leadership and management capabilities, especially in a complex environment with capabilities in relation to high performing teams
  • Ability to influence and drive change.
  • Strong financial planning skills and adhere to financial requirements.
  • Confirmed capacity to work collaboratively in Mali or West Africa or other emerging jurisdictions, including ability to communicate sensitively with respect for law, customs, and aspirations.
  • Understanding of the value of stakeholder engagement at all levels, management of key relationships and outstanding leadership competencies
  • Fluency in English is essential and strong fluency in French is desirable.
