GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
- NewAfrica Impact has received a reimbursable grant from the African Development Bank hosted Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa to finance the development of the NewAfrica Impact Bioenergy plants in Ghana and Sierra Leone respectively. The plants will be co-located with wood processing facilities which will provide biomass from sustainable grown, and FSC certified forestry plantations. The plants will provide electricity and heat to the wood processing facilities and industrial parks and, in the case of Sierra Leone, will also electrify surrounding communities. The reimbursable grant, instrumental in assuring project bankability, will support technical feasibility and regulatory and legal structuring. The project is expected to i) add 10 MWel and 22 MWth in additional capacity and electrify 5,000 households upon completion; ii) create 125 jobs during construction, 60 permanent jobs during operation and 250 indirect jobs, of which 30% are for women; and iii) reduce carbon emissions by 45 ktCO2/year.
- The principal objectives of this project are to: Conduct preparatory work such as technical, legal and regulatory to bring the two plants to a bankable stage.
- The project includes the following components :
- Technical service including Feasibility, Mini-Grid assessment, engineering, feedstock supply and tender document preparation;
- Regulatory service such as analysis of regulatory framework, legal and employment structuring and Financial Model audits; and
- Legal service to review various contracts.
