Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture for Improved Rural Livelihoods and Climate Resiliency in the Climate-Vulnerable Eastern Province of Rwanda
GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
- The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF), also known by the brand name World Agroforestry, has received a grant from the Africa Climate Change Fund (ACCF), hosted at the African Development Bank, to finance the project on promoting climate smart agriculture for improved rural livelihoods and climate resiliency in the climate-vulnerable Eastern Province of Rwanda ;
- The principal objectives of this project are to: strengthen resilience, food security and improve livelihoods of farmers vulnerable to climate change.
Specifically, the project seeks to promote :
- Adoption of climate smart agriculture approaches ;
- Adoption of drought-tolerant crop varieties ;
- Creation of revenue generating activities in agriculture sector.
- The project includes the following components :
- Improved agricultural system resilience to variable rainfall and drought periods ;
- Food security improved through use and introduction of high yielding drought-tolerant crop varieties ;
- New revenue generating activities benefiting the youth, women, and men.
- Procurement of goods and/or works and acquisition of the services of consultants for the project, will be carried out in accordance with the “Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations”, dated October 2015. Bidding and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents are expected to be available in May/June 2022 ;
