African Natural Resources Centre is looking for Request for expressions for Graphic and layout designer – Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire

Context :

  1. The African Development Bank (“AfDB” or “the Bank”) is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. There are 80 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries. The Bank’s development agenda is delivering financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. To focus the objectives of the its Ten-Year Strategy (2013 – 2022) and ensure greater developmental impact, the Bank has identified five major priority areas for scaling up, which will accelerate its delivery for Africa. These are areas where activity is being scaling up. They are: (1) Light up and Power Africa (2) Feed Africa (3) Industrialise Africa (4) Integrate Africa (5) Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa ;
  2. The African Natural Resources Centre (ANRC) of the Bank was set up to support the Bank’s regional member countries in improving development outcomes through effective management of their natural resources. It does so by delivering practical solutions on policy, legislative and investment decisions in the natural resource sectors. Internally, the Centre brings cohesion to the Bank’s strategies in natural resources sectors by providing a single lens through which the institution tackles natural resources governance ;
  3. The African Natural Resources Centre is a unit of the Bank’s Economics Governance and Knowledge Management Complex, which is responsible for (a) providing leadership and visibility for the Bank on economic, finance, financial governance and socio economic development issues; (b) coordinating the generation of analytical work to inform operational policy; and (c) systematically emphasising the critical role of knowledge, experience, lessons learnt and their tangible impact on sustainable, inclusive transformation of African economies ;
  4. As part of its core mandate to strengthen capacity and provide guidance in natural resource management, the African Natural Resources Centre is rolling out a series of digital and print publications and knowledge products. These include case studies, guidelines and reports, as well as promotional materials such as brochures and pamphlets. The aim is to reach various target audiences with pertinent information relating to natural resource governance in Africa ;
  5. These publications need to be of a very high quality, in terms of not only content but also their design and presentation. The Centre therefore requires the services of a highly skilled professional design firm to ensure the quality of the design and presentation of its publications ;
  6. The African Development Bank invites independent firms to indicate their interest in providing the following services:
    • Create, edit and improve the artwork, layout and design of reports and other communications materials for printing and electronic distribution ;
    • Conceptualise and execute creative graphic design and layout work for materials to be published ;
    • Produce print-ready materials of high quality for printing ;
    • Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and animated presentations ;
    • Create animations for illustrative purposes for use in various materials such as PowerPoint presentations and more advanced communication options (web videos graphic editing, graphic digitalisation).
  1. Interested and eligible consulting firms or associations of consulting firms shall provide information on their qualifications and experience, demonstrating their ability to provide the services. This should include documentation, references for similar services, experience in comparable assignments, availability of qualified staff, etc. ;
  2. The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the African Development Bank’s Procurement Policy Framework for projects financed by the Bank Group. The October 2015 edition of this framework is available on the Bank’s Website at http://www.afdb.org. Please, note that interest expressed by a consulting firm does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include it in the shortlist ;
  3. The estimated duration of services is 60 working days spread over Six months. The estimated starting date is the 1st of July 2019 ;
  4. Interested consulting firms may obtain further information at the address below during the Bank’s working hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday ;
