Job Role Summary :
The Senior User Experience (UX) Architect has the opportunity to partner with our Corporate Information Technology business lines to research, design, develop, and deliver user friendly software solutions and experiences by first seeking to understand the problem and what our users need. The design team (The Station) is focused on solving complex IT & business problems globally and improving our internal users ability to execute their work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Our team members have a strong sense of curiosity and ingenuity to quickly learn new domains and have diverse backgrounds in end-user research, visual and interaction design, & knowledge of application development lifecycle.
The Senior UX Architect position will be located in Spring, Texas, and will report to the Design Program Manager of Corporate IT in ExxonMobil IT.
Primary Job Functions :
- Champion principles of usability and user-centered design ;
- Experienced knowledge of designing in an Agile environment required ;
- Work directly with project teams to gather requirements from user research, stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, etc. ;
- Work directly with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Development Leads and stakeholders to clarify and define business requirements as they apply to the user experience ;
- Work directly with other UX designers to collaborate on solutions ;
- Steward proper branding and style guidance ;
- Develop user flows, journey maps, page flows, wireframes, and sitemaps ;
- Develop visually rich mock-ups and UI assets in accordance with style guide standards ;
- Revise and improve designs based on user feedback, research, technical constraints, and business decisions
Job Requirements :
- Strong understanding of combining User-Centered Design principals with user research ;
- Expert experience with toolset (Microsoft suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Invision, Axure.) ;
- Expert experience with visual design for applications (native and web) ;
- Secure understanding of responsive web design principles and Mobile First methodology ;
- Experience working on Mobile and Desktop experiences, both in native and web-based experiences ;
- Experience designing complex data visualization and dashboard-type experiences ;
- Creative and strategic thinker able to develop innovative solutions to problems and leading-edge design ;
- Experience providing art direction ;
- Exceptional presentation abilities, both verbal and visual ;
- Proven knowledge of web-based application design trends, patterns, usability, technical considerations and best practices ;
- Knowledge of Lean UX principles ;
- Comfortable working face to face or in virtual settings across multiple time zones.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :
- Minimum of ten years of professional experience as a UX designer, information architect, interaction designer, user interface designer or similar role ;
- BS/BA in Graphic Design, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, or similar fields ;
- Agile certification or comparable experience working in an Agile environment ;
- Certified Usability Analyst certification a plus ;
- Experience with UX maturation activities a plus ;
- Experience designing in SharePoint is a plus ;
- Understanding of HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, .net, React and Angular is a plus.
