Job Purpose :

To drive high quality responses from a gender perspective working alongside and jointly with the other GHT Advisors to contribute to and achieve high quality and effective emergency responses as part of the GHT mandate and to contribute to research and development that informs humanitarian community internally and externally through learning and best practice in Gender in Emergencies.

To be accountable for incorporating gender and diversity issues consistently across responses through supporting technical teams in meeting Oxfam minimum standards of gender in emergencies and supporting them in ensuring they are equipped to pay special attention to gender across all components of the programme including gender analysis, gender equality, promotion and protection of human rights, empowerment of women and girls and gender balance of staff.

Be accountable for ensuring community participation shapes programme decisions, actively seek a partnership approach and worked following feminist principles including strong awareness of power dynamics.

Expériences / Formation du candidat :

Essential :

• Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to Oxfam’s values, mission and work ;
• Proven practical experience of gender in emergencies, programme development and delivery ;
• In-depth knowledge of the factors driving gender inequalities in different contexts with gender/women’s or related field of study at the BA or MA level ;
• Commitment to delivering humanitarian work through feminist principles ;
• Experience & knowledge of the international humanitarian sector and an understanding of development issues and humanitarian standards and guidelines including Sphere, Red Cross and Red Crescent Code of Conduct, Core Humanitarian Standards, IASC Gender in Humanitarian Action, GBV Guidelines, Oxfam GIE Minimum Standards ;
• Proven ability to develop effective relationships at a distance and deliver high quality remote management, guidance and support ;
• Experience in providing advisory support to both senior managers and programme staff, and well-developed ability to facilitate learning and innovative capacity development schemes ;
• Strong leadership skills with proven experience in leading teams, coordinating diverse stakeholders, motivating, supporting and coaching others to lead ;
• Strong communications, influencing and advocacy skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate core gender justice concepts in humanitarian and resilience contexts to a variety of audiences and influence attitude to achieving programme goals ;
• Ability to represent Oxfam at a strategic level and in and high profile environments. Including strong self-awareness and excellent inter-personal communication, facilitation and partnership building skills ;
• Proven ability to develop and manage institutional relationships across different functions (development programming, humanitarian, campaigning, fundraising) to achieve department and organisational objectives and priorities ;
• Ability to work collaboratively, supportively and respectfully with others in multi-cultural teams and strong networking skills with strong commitment to Oxfam and humanitarian values ;
• Fluency (written and spoken) in both English and French ;
• The ability to travel for up to a maximum of 12 weeks per year and the ability to travel with 48 hours’ notice. In addition, this might include a block of up to 6 weeks continuous, in extremis, not more than once a year.

Desirable : Ability to work in other languages, particularly Spanish and or Arabic
