- The African Development Bank hereby invites Consulting Firms to indicate their interest in the following Assignment: Development and Operationalization of the Fashionomics Africa Online Marketplace and Mobile Application. The AfDB intends to implement the Fashionomics Africa Platform aimed at improving the ability of African MSMEs – with a special focus on women and youth – operating in the African textile, apparel and accessories industry through an online marketplace. In April 2016, The Bank commissioned a feasibility study that resulted in the establishment of the Fashionomics Africa Platform prototype based on the study’s recommendations (http://fashionomicsafrica.org).
- The services to be provided under the Assignment include: The consulting firm will develop, install, and successfully test and run the content, structure, search functions, interactive capability, including the necessary security mechanisms best suited to the needs of the platform and mobile application. The online interactive marketplace aims at supporting African MSMEs in the textile and fashion industry in Africa. The goal of the Fashionomics platform is to enable African women and youth designers to create and grow their businesses. The specific objectives of the platform are four-fold: (i) Increase Access to Market for African designers to display and sell their products and services through global virtual marketplaces; (ii) Providing mentorship and networking opportunities; (iii) Facilitate access to finance by connecting designers not only with established investors but also to tap into crowdfunding mechanisms; (iv) development through tutorials, branding know-how, marketing and financial acumen and the set-up of a sustainable know-how and skills transfer system to African designers and artisans.
- The Gender, Women and Civil Society Department (AHGC)in collaboration with the Industrial and Trade Department (PITD) invites Consulting Firms to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested eligible Consulting Firms or associations of Consulting Firms shall provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to provide the services (documentation, references for similar services, experience in comparable Assignments, availability of qualified staff, etc.).
- The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the Rules and Procedure for the Selection of Corporate Consultants. Please, note that interest expressed by a Consulting Firm does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include it in the shortlist.
- The estimated duration of services is 12 months with possibility of renewal and the estimated starting date is 1st of March 2019.

- Expressions of interest must be received at the address below no later than 28th January 2019 by 17h00 GMT and specifically mentioning Development and Operationalization of the Fashionomics Africa Online Marketplace and Mobile Application.
