Position summary:The Global Programs department will serve as a major programmatic resource hub to guide and support Rainforest Alliance’s implementation of its strategy through global initiatives, regional projects, and partnerships, as well as to draw on for developing external engagements with companies, consumers, donors, and other stakeholders. The department facilitates and ensures consistent programmatic design that brings together the range of programs required to achieve impact and delivers its services in a collaborative and coordinated manner.
Working as part of an international Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) team, the Cocoa Supply Chain and Project Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Senior Associate is responsible to lead and complete monitoring and evaluation projects implemented in Ivory Coast and Ghana with private sector partners in cocoa and other key sector, supporting companies in improving their supply chain sustainability performance. This individual will lead M&E field staff implementing M&E project design, data collection, analysis, M&E results dissemination, and communication with company partners. The Senior Associate will also be responsible to shape future M&E service offers. This role will be reporting to the Supply Chain and Project M&E Manager.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, results oriented, with meticulous attention to detail, and is passionate about environmental issues.
Responsibilities:

- Manage Cocoa Supply Chain M&E project implementation in Ivory Coast and Ghana, including designing and translating surveys (as needed), testing survey apps, hire M&E partners, facilitating enumerator training, and data collection in Ivory Coast and Ghana;
- Review and prepare guidance on the survey tools/questionnaires, prepare list of selected sample farms and farm visit plans to ensure compliance with RA/corporate partner sampling standards and guidelines;
- Provide M&E survey training and support data collection teams by explaining M&E concepts, describing basic cocoa production practices, and arranging logistics;
- Conduct data quality control, statistical analysis and prepare M&E reports;
- Present M&E key findings or results to both company partner and stakeholders;
- Provide support to Rainforest Alliance’s Ivory Coast and Ghana strategy implementation where needed;
- Provide oversight and management to M&E partners in conducting field monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities, including (but not limited to) contracting data collectors/M&E partners, organizing trainings, and coordinating payments.

Qualifications:
- Education: Advanced degree in agriculture, forestry, natural resources, environmental management, or related field.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in conducting monitoring and evaluation of agricultural supply chains, managing data collections teams, synthesizing and analyzing data;
- Knowledge of statistics and principles, practices and methodologies of project monitoring and evaluation, verification best practices and tools related to agricultural supply chains and/ or rural development;
- Strong leadership skills and experience in training and backstopping data collection teams in often challenging international settings; demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training and mentoring;
- Experience with statistical packages (Stata, SPSS, R, etc.) and data visualization software (Power BI, etc.) a plus;
- Fluency in English and French;
- Ability to work independently and with multi-disciplinary teams, multi-task and work under tight deadlines;
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel a minimum of 10% per year, internationally.
