| Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world. IRC supports, provides rehabilitation and supports post-conflict reconstruction for victims of violent oppression and conflict. Present in more than 40 countries, IRC’s mission is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shaken by conflicts and disasters to survive, recover, and take control of their future.
BackgroundIn response to a growing humanitarian crisis and the flood of Sudanese refugees in Chad, the IRC launched programs in Chad in February 2004 (Ouré Cassoni camp), August 2008 (Bredjing camp) and January 2011 (Treguine camp), All in eastern Chad. In addition, IRC launched a primary health care relief program in the Bahr el Ghazal region in October 2010, after the drought severely affected the living conditions of the population, particularly food security, Nutrition and health status. In April 2012, in response to the Sahel crisis, the IRC set up a health and nutrition relief program in Mongo, in the Guerra region and in the central part of Chad. The IRC continues to respond promptly to humanitarian crises as they emerge. In response to the Cholera epidemic in 2011-2012, IRC set up a Cholera Treatment Center within the Abéché hospital in eastern Chad. In May 2013, the IRC carried out an emergency response in Tissi to supply water to refugees fleeing violence in Darfur. In February 2014, in the southern Chad, the IRC started providing health and nutrition services to refugees and returnees from the Central African Republic. The IRC-Chad is working with several donors such as the UNHCR, BPMR, ECHO, SV, SIDA, OFDA, DFID, UNICEF and a number of private foundations. More recently, in May 2016, the IRC opened a Health and Nutrition program in Liwa, in the Lake region, in response to the crisis in the Lake Chad Basin.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator, the Senior Health & Nutrition Manager based in Bagasola in the Lake Chad region will be responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of the Health and Nutrition projects at the Dar Es Salam refugee camp health centre and others IRC supported health facilities/mobile clinics in IDPs sites in the Lake Chad region:

HistoriqueFace à une crise humanitaire croissante et au flot des réfugiés soudanais au Tchad, l’IRC a lancé des programmes au Tchad en février 2004 (camp d’Ouré Cassoni), août 2008 (camp de Bredjing) et janvier 2011 (camp de Treguine), tous à l’est du Tchad. En outre, l’IRC a également lancé un programme de secours lié à la santé primaire dans la région du Bahr el Ghazal en octobre 2010, après la sécheresse qui a sévèrement affecté les conditions de vie de la population, particulièrement la sécurité alimentaire, la nutrition et l’état de santé. En avril 2012, face à la crise du Sahel, l’IRC a mis sur pied un programme de secours sanitaire et nutritionnel à Mongo, dans la Région du Guerra, et dans la partie centrale du Tchad. L’IRC continue à répondre promptement aux crises humanitaires dès leur apparition. En réponse à l’épidémie de Choléra en 2011- 2012, IRC a mis en place un Centre de Traitement du Choléra au sein de l’hôpital d’Abéché à l’Est du Tchad. En Mai 2013, l’IRC a mené une intervention d’urgence à Tissi, pour y approvisionner en eau les réfugiés fuyant la violence qui prévalaient au Darfour. En février 2014, l’IRC a commencé à fournir des services de santé et nutrition aux réfugiés et aux retournés Tchadiens de la République Centrafricaine au Sud du Tchad. L’IRC-Tchad travaille de concert avec plusieurs donateurs, comme UNHCR, BPMR, ÉCHO, SV, SIDA, OFDA, DFID, UNICEF et un certain nombre de fondations privées. Plus récemment, en Mai 2016, l’IRC a ouvert un programme de Santé et Nutrition à Liwa, dans la région du lac, en réponse à la crise dans le bassin du lac Tchad.
Responsabilités GénéralesSous la responsabilité directe du Field Coordinator, le Senior Health & Nutrition Manager responsable des projets Santé – Nutrition basé à Bagasola dans la région du lac Tchad sera en charge de la planification, la mise en œuvre et du suivi du programme de santé et nutrition dans les structures de santé du camp de réfugiés de Dar Es Salam et des autres sites de déplacés internes (IDPs) et structures sanitaires appuyées par l’IRC dans la région du lac Tchad. Il assure la gestion, le suivi et l’évaluation des projets de santé et nutrition dans la région du Lac Tchad en coordination avec les Coordinateurs Santé et Nutrition de l’IRC basés à Ndjamena.
