MAG vacancy: Community Liaison Manager Chad
Fixed term – 7 months
Subject to funding to start November 2017
The salary package for this role is £35,868 – £39,012 per annum*, including basic salary, cost of living allowance and hardship allowance.
About the Chad programme:
Following nearly 30 years of conflict, large areas of Chad remain affected by mines and the explosive remnants of war. MAG has worked in Chad from 2006 to 2013, aiming to improve the living conditions of communities affected by these items, so they can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. We returned to Chad in late 2014 and re-opened our programme, working to improve the management of arms and ammunition alongside our Humanitarian Mine Action work.
Subject to a successful bid, the programme is planning to begin a new 4 year project and are working to expand the in-country team to support the work in both the Lake Chad and Tibesti Region.
About the role:
We are seeking a Community Liaison Manager (CLM) in Chad to lead a range of activities including non-technical survey, risk education and impact monitoring. You will be responsible for recruiting and training national staff CL teams as well as designing and delivering mine risk education sessions and materials. MAG’s CLM’s are essential to our life-saving work and as the only international CLM in the programme; this is a great opportunity to take a leading role in this.
About you:
You will have experience of leading, motivating and managing national staff, have strong participatory learning and facilitation skills and experience of conducting assessments in order to design and implement appropriate interventions. In addition, you should have experience in designing and delivering formal or informal training, with the ability to organize and coordinate activities or projects. We would be especially pleased to hear from you if you have previous experience of working in Africa and/or with the Humanitarian Mine Action sector.
You must have a fluent professional working knowledge of both French and English.
This role will be field based, working in hardship conditions in remote locations in Chad and therefore you will need to be able to live and work in extremely challenging environments, where your skills and MAG’s work is needed most.

- Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You’ll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year. If based in a ‘hardship’ programme you’ll also be entitled to an additional 10 days hardship leave.
- Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.
