Welthungerhilfe recrute un consultant pour le renforcement des capacités des experts – Société civile locale à Beni en RDC

 

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until September 30, 2021. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Beni with frequent travel to Lubero and Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.

As Expert Capacity Building – Local Civil Society, you will primarily be working for a BMZ-funded project in Lubero district. However, you will also support Welthungerhilfe (WHH) teams working in other areas of North Kivu and Ituri, and play an active role within the coordination team based in Goma. You will be asked to build the capacity of teams and local NGOs in order to improve WHH’s scope of cooperation with national entities. You will be involved in the identification of new partners and oversee the development of dedicated plans to increase their capacities. You will also support the teams covering humanitarian objectives and generating synergies between projects and approaches.

Your responsibilities :

  • Planning, implementation and monitoring of agriculture measures in the scope of WHH’s projects, result and impact control (incl. documentation) ;
  • Support of planning for and the drafting of new projects in the fields of agriculture and food security, civil society strengthening, nutrition and natural resource management ;
  • Work with local WHH partners to assess their capacity needs, elaborate related capacity development plans, support partner collaboration and transfer of knowledge ;
  • Develop appropriate mechanisms and tools for the improvement of agriculture production and marketing in cooperation with local partners ;
  • Develop and strengthen the skills, abilities, processes and resources of local organizations ;
  • Provide support and guide local organizations to further develop their training and extension approaches ;
  • Organize training and workshops for staff, partner organizations and project stakeholders ;
  • Steer and facilitate partnerships with and between local civil society, the private sector and specific government institutions ;
  • Develop a network of local organizations which could potentially be considered for partnerships in WHH-led interventions in DRC.

Your profile :

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field, preferably in International Studies, Organizational Development, Natural Resource Management or Agricultural Development ;
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience working in the global south, including Central Africa ;
  • Excellent comprehension of technical and service delivery aspects of agriculture in a development context ;
  • Excellent diplomacy and communication skills ;
  • Strong planning skills, ability to work under pressure and to deliver results in a challenging context ;
  • A high level of mental and physical resilience and readiness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions ;
  • Excellent spoken and written French and English, German language skills would be an asset.
