Our programs will help reduce the economic marginalization of women and promote their full participation in Mali’s development

The Business Development Manager will lead the implementation of Oxfam Mali’s fundraising strategy and coordinate country level fundraising from institutional and high value donors to ensure a sustainable increase in income from these sources. He/she will work with fundraising and programme staff in Mali to provide support in proposal writing and with information needed to raise funds from the institutional and high value donors. He/she will coordinate efforts to raise income from donors by building relationships directly with them.

The Business Development Manager will coordinate the development of concept notes and proposals that are in line with Oxfam Mali fundraising priorities. He/she will also manage the programmes existing extensive grant portfolio, and forge excellent relationships with organisations supporting Oxfam’s work in Mali

 

What we are looking for :

Essentials :

  • Master degree in management, economics or finance ;
  • At least 5 to 10 years’ experience of raising funds from institutional and humanitarian donors (e.g. EU, multilateral agencies, Trusts, Foundations and Mali Government) ;
  • Experience in high level numeracy, budgeting, financial reporting skills ;
  • Excellent report and proposal writing skills ;
  • Work effectively with a team to achieve fundraising targets ;
  • Organisational awareness – understanding how to get what information and who to keep informed ;
  • Experience of coordinating high quality donor proposals for high value and institutional donors ;
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal ;
  • Experience in capacity building for non-funding staff in all aspects of funding and contract compliance ;
  • Strong numeracy and financial skills, with the ability to develop complex budgets in Excel and resolve financial issues ;
  • Ability to represent Oxfam to donors and external institutions ;
  • Ability to coach, influencing skills and tenacity ;
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines ;
  • Good administrative skills and ability to follow departmental procedures ;
  • Fluent both with Excellent written and spoken French & English ;
  • Good knowledge of Malian Social and Culture environment ;
  • Knowledge of NGO programming in development and emergencies ;
  • Knowledge or experience of Oxfam’s programme works an advantage ;
  • Experience of managing and working in consortiums ;
  • Ability to work under intense pressure ;
  • Flexible approach to working hours-ability and willingness to work evening and weekends when necessary.
