STRATEGIC WATER SUPPLY & SANITATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (SWSSIP)

Context :

  1. The Government of the Republic of South Sudan (GRSS) has received a Grant from the African Development Fund to finance the Strategic Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project (SWSSIP).
  1. The principal objectives of this project are to improve the quality and delivery of urban water supply services in Juba City of Jubek State within the Equatoria region and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Services to Rural Communities of Jubek State.
  2. The project includes the following components:

Water and Sanitation Infrastructure – This component will address the water and sanitation infrastructure improvement needs in Juba City and Jubek State focusing on the rehabilitation of water distribution network, carrying out feasibility studies and engineering designs in urban areas as well as addressing sanitation infrastructure in rural areas.
  4. Institutional Capacity Development – The activities under this component include, institutional strengthening and capacity building of the relevant institutions/stakeholders, advocacy and support through Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approaches and community mobilization and awareness campaigns to enhance resilience.
  5. Project Management – This component will address project management costs of the project implementation team, audit requirements, office logistics and communication.
  6. Procurement of goods and/or works and acquisition of the services of Consultants will be in accordance with the Procurement Policy for Bank Funded Operations, dated October 2015. Bidding documents are expected to be available in October 2019.
  7. The mode of procurement to be applied for the implementation of the project will largely follow open competitive bidding and the related Specific Procurement Notices (SPNs) will be published in the UNDB, the AfDB website, international, regional and local newspapers as they become available from October 2019.
