Programme Officer – Chad

The total salary package for this position is £32,808 – £35,544 per annum* including basic salary, hardship allowance and cost of living allowance.

About the Chad programme:

Following nearly 30 years of conflict, large areas of Chad remain affected by mines and the explosive remnants of war. MAG has worked in Chad from 2006 to 2013, aiming to improve the living conditions of communities affected by these items, so they can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. We returned to Chad in late 2014 and re-opened our programme, working to improve the management of arms and ammunition alongside our Humanitarian Mine Action work.

Subject to a successful bid, the programme is planning to begin a new 4 year project and are working to expand the in-country team to support the work in both the Lake and Tibesti Region.

About the role:

Reporting to the Country Director, the Programme Officer will be responsible for proposal development, report writing, grant management to ensure the programme meets contractual requirements and business plan objectives. The Programme Officer will play a role in coordinating between different projects in country, as well as supporting the analysis and evaluation of the programme as a whole. The role will be based in Ndjamena but will travel to other locations within the programme as required.

About you:

The successful candidate will need experience working overseas in international aid or development, ideally in a conflict/post conflict environment. You will need fluent French language skills, with a good level of written and spoken English. Working in a small team of international staff, you will also need to demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ideally, you will have gained experience writing reports and proposals for a range of institutional donors, with the ability to produce written material of the highest quality in both English and French being essential.
